Training and Employment Consultant – ASBT Group Training Field Officer

REPORTING TO: Manager- Group Training
Reviewed: Annually by HR and Manager Group Training
Next Review Date: February 2008

SELECTION CRITERION

1. Demonstrate a sound knowledge of apprenticeship and traineeship systems.

2. A proven ability to liaise with relevant key stakeholders to identify, develop, implement and market apprenticeship and traineeship opportunities.

3. An ability to establish networks with key stakeholders including State/Commonwealth Governments, Industry Training Councils, Local Government and Industry.

4. Well developed communication skills, including interpersonal skills.

5. Proven experience working with and mentoring young people.

6. Well developed negotiation skills

7. Established time management skills

8. Demonstrated computer literacy

9. An understanding of the role and responsibilities of a Group Training Company.

Critical Objectives
  • Maintain contact with existing host employers
  • Identify Marketing and promotional opportunities within the industry and report to Coordinator for SMYL follow up.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge
  • Liaise with Australian Apprenticeship Centres, Apprenticeship and Trainee support network and State Government Departments to facilitate the registration of Traineeships and Apprenticeships
  • Administer associated paperwork
  • As per GT Admin and Field Officer processes
  • Monitor and Support Trainees.
  • Maintain assigned case load within the guidelines set.
  • Maintain contact with VET coordinator or AIEO
  • Assist with the development of promotional material
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection of trainees for positions.
  • Induct new Apprentices and trainees
  • Place Apprentices and trainees with host employers
  • Ensure that apprentices and trainees are supplied with appropriate safety equipment and OSH requirements are discussed with Host Employer and implemented if required
    Field Officer is first contact in all employment related matters for trainees and host employers.
  • Field Officer provides support and information to clients.
  • Database information is provided and all contact with clients recorded as required by SMYL Group Training Process
  • Assist Host employers with performance management if requested. Ensure Trainees or apprentices are represented and supported when issues arise
  • Ensure Grievance Procedure is followed if negotiation is not successful.
  • Represent SMYL at industry events
  • Adhere to all Company Policies and Processes
  • Comply with Group Training Processes
  • Government and contractual requirements are met
  • Other duties as directed by CEO
  • Ensure attendance at all staff meetings and required company training
