Employment period: Initially fixed term for 12 months, then permanent subject to conditions
These positions are responsible for the case management of young offenders subject to community supervision orders issued by the sentencing and releasing authorities, with the aim of reducing offending, protecting the community and encouraging offenders, particularly young offenders at risk, towards law abiding lifestyles.

Special Requirements
This position is initially fixed term for 12 months, then permanent subject to conditions
1. Successful applicants for the Juvenile Justice Officer positions will require a Working With Children clearance - acquisition to be initiated during the first week of training.
2. All successful applicants must be prepared to be available to attend 3 months of intensive training at the Department’s Training Academy at Bentley on a full time basis from July 29, 2008.
3. These positions will operate on a temporary basis for up to 12 months with the prospect of a permanent position thereafter. The 12 month period will comprise the 3 months intensive training, then 9 months of an on-the-job placement at a Community Justice Service (CJS) centre. Throughout the 12 month period, successful applicants will undergo regular performance assessments. Any offer of a permanent position will be subject to the successful completion of all elements of the training, the completion of a satisfactory performance assessment, good conduct and regular attendance.
The Department reserves the right to terminate the contract of employment at any time (within the 12 month period) of any person whose assessed performance falls below the expected standards.

2) This question relates to the ‘Planning’ criterion and ‘Time Management and Organisational’ criterion. Describe an activity where you were required to use your organisation skills. What were the key organisational techniques that you used during this situation to manage the activity?
3) This question relates to the essential ‘Knowledge’ criterion. Describe your knowledge and understanding of the causes of offending behaviours.
