Job Description
The Aboriginal Employment Strategy (AES) operates a highly successful School Based Traineeship Program through our Group Training arm. The program allows the trainees to work with a host employer, complete a Certificate 2 in Business Services while completing their HSC. The banking sector is our primary partner in the program with the ANZ, Commonwealth Bank, Westpac and National Australia Bank all seeking to expand their numbers in Western Australia.
The AES is seeking a highly motivated and well organised individual to manage the program in Western Australia. It is an exciting opportunity for an individual interested in assisting Indigenous students to succeed in the corporate sector. The successful applicant will be given a portfolio of trainee’s who they will be mentoring to ensure they successfully complete the traineeship. The successful candidate must also be able to develop strong working relationships with senior corporate sector staff.
Duties:
• Manage effective promotion of the AES School Based Traineeship Program
• Manage host employer relationships
• Identify new business opportunities
• Liaise with schools regarding performance of trainee’s
• Provide ongoing mentoring support to trainee’s
• Provide ongoing advice and support to host employer
• Administration of the SBT program
• Work in accordance with Group Training Organisation standards
Selection Criteria:
• Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander
• Drivers licence
• Strong communications skills
• Excellent organisational skills
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Indigenous Australians and the issues they face in employment
• Demonstrated project management skills
• Demonstrated ability to work to targets
Desirable:
• Tertiary qualification
• Experience working with young people
• Experience in human resource management
• Experience working within the education sector
Remuneration package: base salary up to $65,000 plus superannuation and salary packaging.
