The Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service Inc, located In East Perth, Mirrabooka and Maddington, Is a key organisation in Aboriginal Health Care. We are a rapidly expanding and dynamic organisation providing a holistic health service to the Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander people of Perth.

Aboriginal Health Promotion Development Officer

This is a newly funded position that will contribute to and support the development, implementation and evaluation of Aboriginal health programs, which address the public health priorities relating to chronic disease to improve health outcomes. The Aboriginal Health Promotion Development officer will be responsible for identifying the health needs of the community, and developing and implementing health promotion activities.

This position is part of a WA Aboriginal Health Promotion Collaborative Project led by the Aboriginal Health Council of WA and Curtin University in partnership with DYHS and a number of health promotion organisations. This position incorporates a training program with Curtin University (Graduate Certificate of Health Promotion or Graduate Diploma of Health Promotion) - the applicant will undertake this training over 2008 -2009.

The position is based at DYHS. Essential criteria include qualification in Aboriginal Primary Care, valid “Working with Children Check” and “C” class driver’s license, and be a non-smoker. The position is for 2 years fixed term.
